AYODHYA SHINES: Deepotsav Sets Two New Guinness World Records

Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh: The annual Deepotsav celebration in the temple town of Ayodhya has once again etched its name in history, setting two new Guinness World Records. The grand festivities saw a massive effort involving state agencies and local volunteers, transforming the town into a breathtaking spectacle of light and devotion.

Record 1: Largest Display of Oil Lamps

The primary record was achieved for the largest display of oil lamps lit at a single location. Representatives from the Guinness Book of World Records used drone technology to verify the count, announcing the official number:

  • 26,17,215 (26.17 lakh) diyas (oil lamps) were lit simultaneously.

This spectacular feat was achieved jointly by the UP Department of Tourism, the Ayodhya administration, and the Rammanohar Lohia Avadh University. UP Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh and Principal Secretary Amrit Abhijat proudly presented the official Guinness certificate to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Record 2: The Grand Simultaneous Aarti

The second world record highlighted the collective devotion of the community, setting a new benchmark for simultaneous worship:

  • 2,128 people performed 'aarti' (a ritual of worship with lamps) together at the same time.

This powerful display of faith was jointly achieved by the tourism department, the district administration, and the Saryu Aarti Samiti in Ayodhya. The record-setting achievement underscores the scale and spiritual significance of the Deepotsav celebrations in the town.
